Social Cohession/Youth Engagement Officer

In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern, West Nile and Central regions of Uganda. We save children's lives. We fight for their rights. The Social Cohesion/ Youth Engagement (SCYE) will manage the social cohesion component of the project: participatory selection of beneficiaries, prioritization of CfW activities, life skills awareness raising during Phase 1 (design of life skills sensitizations, training of sub-area managers and field officers) and social cohesion aspects before and during Phase 2 (creation, coaching of beneficiaries' groups, follow-up of group enterprises

Contractual Status: National
Qualification and Experience;
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in development, social work, economics, business or other related field;
At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in engagement, participatory approaches, livelihoods, social enterprise, etc.
Knowledge of West Nile, Uganda, and displacement (refugee) context preferred; and
Knowledge of a local language
Understanding of social relations and commitment to integrate gender, diversity and other power related issues into programme activities
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles.
An understanding of the role of INGOs and current development debates, particularly participatory approaches, organizational development and capacity building with/for both state and non-state partners.
