In a strange land without my mother

“If mum was here there are things she would do for us. She would be able to grind the millet we are given by the World Food Programme into flour, and to look for more food so that we could have a variety of meals. She would also be able to pay for us school fees in school.

Fourteen-year-old Jacqueline Wani,* a South Sudanese refugee youngster living in Boroli settlement, Adjumani district, Uganda, wistfully voices her thoughts. At her tender age, she has had to take care of herself and her four siblings.

Nyakabande refugees get sanitation facilities

Save the Children and UNICEF recently handed over to the Office of the Prime Minister sanitation facilities in Nyakabande Refugee Transit Camp, Kisoro district.
